This week on Twitter and Instagram I featured this wonderful new furniture piece that we acquired recently. It is a 1930’s or 40’s vanity table – normally it would have a large mirror attached, but alas this particular piece was missing its mirror. The desk itself is in very good vintage condition, with only a couple small places on the front where the veneer is missing. It’s currently for sale in our booth at The Brass Armadillo here in Des Moines, and is very similar to the vanity we had in the booth at The Picker Knows back in April and May.

I really love this type of piece because they truly are of another era. Girls and women today simply do not use makeup tables – we do everything in front of the bathroom mirror! And yet, especially when they do have the mirror attached, they are so dramatic! Here are some similar pieces, photos courtesy of Google Images, that show some of the mirror styles that were available.

If you are local, I hope you get a chance to get to the Brass Armadillo and check out this wonderful piece. It would be beautiful as-is, of course, but is also more than suitable for a repainting or repurposing project, useful in any space where you need some additional storage!
